Program Content Areas, Competencies, Skill Sets

• Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and device industry professionals working in disciplines that rely on applied economic analyses, such as outcomes research, product reimbursement, medical communications, new product development, biostatistics, regulatory, and medical science liaison field operations
• Individuals working in public health, health policy, and other government or regulatory positions at the local, state, or federal level
• Health care management professionals in health plans, hospitals and other facilities, and healthcare provider organizations
• Human resources professionals, brokers, benefits consultants, chief financial officers, and other professionals who are involved in purchasing and evaluating health benefits on behalf of employed populations
• Individuals working at Health Information Technology (IT) firms who function as IT engineers, product managers, or market researchers
• Students with undergraduate degrees in public policy, economics, political science, applied math and engineering or a healthcare field, who are seeking to expand their skill set or are considering a clinical or management career in healthcare
• Individuals working in healthcare-related professional organizations and trade associations
• Healthcare providers and other healthcare system stakeholders from outside of the United States (international students)
• Other professionals who work in an organization involved in the allocation of healthcare resources, or seeking to obtain this type of expertise

• The MS-AHEOR degree program requires completion of 39 credits, including a capstone project. The capstone project enables students to apply AHEOR concepts and methods to problems in actual settings
• Classes are offered across three 14-week sessions per year, beginning in September and ending in July. Students can begin the program in September or January
• Full-time students can complete the program in 12-15 months. Part-time students can complete the program in 24 - 36 months
• All courses are offered asynchronously online
• Upon completion of coursework, students come to campus for one week to present their capstone projects in person and to attend a series of special seminars and discussions on AHEOR and population health.

All coursework for the Certificate and MS-AHEOR will be completed by asynchronous online learning. Upon completion of coursework students come on campus for “Capstone Week,” during which they present their Capstone projects, attend other students’ presentations and participate in critiquing those projects, and attend a series of special seminars and discussions on AHEOR and population health.
