The Radiology residency program is recognized as one of the top programs in the country. Recently, and for the third consecutive year, the Diagnostic Radiology residency program was ranked number 1 out of 187 programs in the country by the American Board of Radiology based on 5-year cumulative performance on the oral board examinations.

The goal of our residency program is to produce high quality radiologists, well trained in all aspects of diagnostic radiology. Many of our residents pursue academic careers, but our emphasis on competence in all aspects of radiology also prepares our residents well for private practice. All of the clinical rotations are located on the Jefferson campus with the one exception of pediatric radiology. The pediatric rotation provides outstanding experience at the affiliated institution A.I. DuPont children’s hospital.  The department facilities are modern and up-to-date with many ergonomic workstations, leading edge PACS, RIS and VR systems, and state-of-the-art radiographic equipment.

Educational activities are based on the subspecialty expertise of faculty. Resident conferences are held twice daily, and most of the divisions maintain extensive teaching files. Access to University medical school library and on-line journals is also a valuable asset. Research projects are required of all residents. Many of which are accepted for presentation at national meetings. Several of our residents have won national awards for research, or have been selected to participate in Introduction to Research programs sponsored by national radiology societies.

The Diagnostic Radiology residency is ACGME accredited. The residency selection process is competitive with over 750 applicants each year for 8 positions. Applications for the Department of Radiology Residency Program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital will be accepted only through ERAS (the Electronic Residency Application Service) http://www.aamc.org/audienceeras.htm. 

The deadline to apply is October 15th of each year.
