Medical Students
Clinical Experience
We offer clinical rotations to third and fourth year medical students. This four week rotation will introduce medical students to clinical radiation oncology. Students will learn the staging, work-up, management and outcomes of common malignancies. Students will participate in new patient evaluations, on treatment visits, follow-ups, and multi-disciplinary tumor board discussions. Typically, students will spend each week with a different attending.
Our schedules are flexible. Please contact our residency coordinator for scheduling and contact information.
Shadowing Experience
Medical students are welcome to visit the department and to shadow with one of our physicians for a full day or half day. Please contact our residency coordinator, Theresa Malatesta, at 215-955-0284 to schedule.
Research Experience
The Radiation Oncology department at Jefferson has a strong track record of productive clinical and basic research. We also have many on-going projects in radiation biology, physics and clinical research. Students are encouraged to participate in research projects during the year or over the summer. We aim to tailor research experiences toward the particular interests of each student. Please contact our residency coordinator to arrange for a meeting with an appropriate mentor from our faculty.
