Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship

The Rothman Institute/Jefferson Medical College - Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery fellowship is a fully accredited (ACGME) Hand Surgery fellowship designed to train the next generation of Hand Surgeons. The program is sponsored by the Rothman Institute, the premiere Orthopaedic academic practice in the Philadelphia area.

The program is uniquely designed to provide a comprehensive experience in all aspects of the Hand & Upper extremity. In particular, the fellows will not only spend time on the Hand service, but also dedicated time on the Shoulder & Elbow service.

The fellowship rotation schedule will consist of nine (9) months dedicated to Hand, Wrist, and Microvascular surgery, one (1) month to Pediatric Hand surgery, and two (2) months to Shoulder & Elbow surgery. The program also maintains a comprehensive conference schedule including weekly didactics, indication conference, anatomical dissections, and monthly journal clubs.

The fellows will also participate with the robust research service at the Rothman Institute. Fellows may participate in ongoing projects or pursue an independent course of research.
