Hand Fellowship

This is a university-based private practice in hand surgery that serves as the Division of Hand Surgery, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Over 250 operative procedures were performed each month on this service since 1996 with a representative variety extending from congenital hand problems through complex trauma and reconstruction. 

The Hand Fellow work closely with the attending staff as well as with rotating residents from the Orthopaedic Service. The goal of the training program is to provide a well-rounded clinical experience in upper extremity surgery. 

Hand therapy is integrated into the practice with the therapists involved closely with patient care. A microsurgery practice lab is available and the Fellows are expected to practice microsurgical techniques in the laboratory as well as in the operating room under the guidance of the staff. 

A weekly teaching conference and journal club combine to round out an intense teaching experience.
