Expertise and Research Interests
Dr. Yaron Moshel is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery and a member of the Division of Neuro-Oncologic Neurosurgery and Stereotactic Radiosurgery. Dr. Moshel received a bachelor of science with Honors from New York University. He then received an M.D. - Ph.D. degree from SUNY Brooklyn-Downstate Medical Center where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and was the graduate school class valedictorian. Dr. Moshel did his surgical internship, residency and Chief residency at New York University Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center where he did specialized training in Neuro-oncology, stereotactic and skull base surgery under the supervision of Dr. Patrick Kelly and Dr. John Golfinos. Dr. Moshel also did further training in endoscopic skull base surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Moshel specializes in the treatment of all brain tumors including glioblastomas, meningiomas, metastatic brain tumors, pituitary tumors, pineal tumors, craniopharyngiomas and skull base tumors. He uses the latest techniques in computer-guided stereotactic surgical navigation, minimally invasive endoscopy and microsurgery. He also performs both Gamma Knife and Novalis radiosurgery. Dr. Moshel works with a multidisciplinary team of neuro-oncologists and radiation oncologists to provide a comprehensive and tailored approach to the treatment of brain tumors.
Dr. Moshel is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the New York and Pennsylvania Neurosurgical Society, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, as well as the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Tumors. Dr. Moshel also supervises and trains residents at the Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience and the University Hospital.
