Jefferson Comprehensive Epilepsy Center
The Epilepsy Center combines expertise from neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry and radiology to offer a multi-disciplinary program with one of the largest referral bases and clinical volumes in the country. Current research interests include cortical stimulation as a treatment for seizures, genetic influences on susceptibility for seizures, the effect of seizures on heart function, and the roles of neurotransmitters and receptors in epilepsy.
Comprehensive spinal disorders, including neoplasms and degeneration, are treated with a multi-disciplinary approach. Additionally, numerous novel, minimally invasive approaches and spinal radiosurgery modalities are being developed as alternative approaches to treating patients. This Division treats the largest number of traumatic acute SCI patients in North America.
