Research and Clinical Interests
Dr. Nei has conducted research regarding various clinical aspects of epilepsy, epilepsy surgery, ketogenic diet treatment in epilepsy, maternal-fetal effects of seizures, brain tumors and seizures, and the effects of vagal nerve stimulation. She has also published several studies on the cardiac effects of seizures, the effects of seizures on the autonomic nervous system, and clinical consequences of seizures.
She has expertise in the treatment of adolescents and adults with epilepsy, women's issues in epilepsy, evaluation for epilepsy surgery, and evaluation of transient loss of consciousness, including the evaluation of seizure versus syncope.
Other Expertise
Dr. Nei is actively involved in patient education and speaks on a regular basis at education seminars for the Epilepsy Foundation of America. She is also interested in medical education and regularly mentors medical students, residents, and fellows in neurology. She has been an invited speaker on various topics of epilepsy at local, regional, and national meetings.
She has served as peer reviewer for several journals, including Neurology, Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, Epilepsia, Epilepsy Research, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine, and Archives of Rehabilitation Medicine. She also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Neurology and Neurophysiology.
