Expertise and Research Interests
My main area of research relates to rural health manpower, trying to evaluate ways to increase the number of primary care physicians in rural and underserved areas. Other research interests: health policy; medical education research and policy; teaching medical students to practice high quality cost-effective medicine in the changing health care environment; and the evaluation of medical students and residents by non-multiple choice question formats (modified essay question and uncued question formats).
