The Department of Anesthesiology is a large and varied academic department dedicated to carrying out the mission of Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson University Hospital, and the Jefferson Health Care Network. The Department sponsors a fully accredited residency training program, fellowship programs, as well as educational programs for medical students. A nationally recognized CME program is offered each year.
Research efforts are focused on a variety of clinical and basic science topics including control of carbohydrate metabolism, improved techniques of pain management, operating room management science, and anesthesia clinical decision support.
