Nursing education at the associate degree level prepares students for entry into nursing practice. Students enrolled in the prelicensure ASN-BSN Program are prepared to serve as generalists in the role of caregiver in a hospital or inpatient setting. The ASN component is a full-time program that is completed in two academic years. The ASN component is designed so that graduates of the Program can continue studies to pursue the BSN degree in a seamless manner. Therefore, students are admitted to both the ASN and BSN program. Upon completion of the courses required in the ASN component, the ASN degree is awarded. With the recommendation of faculty, ASN graduates who meet the standards for entry may progress to the BSN component on a full or part-time basis or defer pursuit of BSN degree until a later date.

The ASN-BSN Program is offered on the Center City Campus in Philadelphia and on the Geisinger Medical Center Campus in Danville, PA.

Students in the ASN component enroll in a structured curriculum of 68 credits in required courses that provides grounding in nursing theory and practice as well as exposure to general education courses that are foundations for nursing education. The ASN portion is a full-time program with a comprehensive tuition fee.

• An admission interview is required, To obtain additional information or assistance contact the Admissions Counselor in the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management at 215-503-1043.
• International Students: An evaluation of foreign transcripts by the World Education Service (WES) is required. All international students and U.S. permanent residents must demonstrate English language proficiency as one of the conditions for admission to Jefferson College of Health Professions. Please contact the Admissions Counselor in the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management for a list of acceptable items to satisfy the proficiency requirement.

Nurse Entrance Test Exam Information

The Nurse Entrance Test (NET) provides diagnostic information in three areas directly related to the college success of nursing students: critical reading ability, effective reading speed, and functional mathematics needed for clinical practice.  It also identifies the learning approach most effective for each student.

A Reading Comprehension and Math Computation score of 70 or above is required for admission consideration to the Jefferson ASN-BSN program.   Applicants who have taken the NET exam at another school within the last two years  may submit those results providing the scores meet the minimum requirements.

The cost of the NET exam is $40 (fee subject to change). The time limit for completing the test is 2 hours and 30 minutes. We highly recommended that you prepare for the test. Study guides are available by contacting Educational Resources, Inc. at       1-800-292-2273 or online at www.eriworld.com
