JCHP Faculty Promote Nursing Informatics to Nurses in the Region
JCHP Department of Nursing faculty members Mary E. Bowen, CRNP, DNS, JD, CNAA, and Elizabeth Elkind, MSN, RNC, MBA, promoted the study of Nursing Informatics in an article in the October 4, 2004 issue of Nursing Spectrum.
Nursing informatics specialists combine computer science, information science, and nursing science to manage and process nursing and medical data. They are needed in a variety of settings, such as inpatient and outpatient facilities, vendors, information technology consultants, education, and research teams. These specialists are considered valuable members of any health care team, due to their knowledge and understanding of roles and workflow of the interdisciplinary health care team.
