Anne Miller, Esq., a consummate professional in the field of law, has
been recognized locally and across the state of Pennsylvania for her
leadership in service to the community. Currently a partner and shareholder
in the law firm of McKissock and Hoffman, P.C., Ms. Miller has had a
multi-faceted career as a civil litigator and mediator that has spanned
a quarter of a century. In all of her endeavors, Ms. Miller exudes power
and influence and exhibits professional creativity and innovation.
Known as an advocate for programs that advance women, she is also a
proponent for work that fosters diversity in both the legal profession
and across the business community. Respected for her dedication and
accomplishment in developing the Kimmel Regional Performing Arts Center,
Ms. Miller is currently co-chair of the Center's board of directors.
She took a leadership role in overseeing final preparations for the
Center's December 2001 opening and completing the $265 million Campaign
to Build the Kimmel Center. She also serves as a board member of numerous
leading cultural and not-for-profit organizations, including the Free
Library of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Ballet, the Forum of Executive
Women, Pennsylvania Legal Services Corporation and WHYY. Throughout
her long-standing involvement in corporate governance, Ms. Miller has
remained a committed, dependable and thoughtful board member who has
a unique understanding of the fiduciary and ethical responsibilities
inherent in these important positions.
Ms. Miller's dedication to volunteerism goes beyond the
pro bono publico of the legal profession. She has always been cognizant
that bringing her broad-based business and legal acumen to an organization
will affect it positively and bring about change and lasting improvement.
She demonstrated this while serving as the first female president of
the 27,000-member Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) in 1998-99. For
that organization, she also chaired the Association's first Commission
on Women in the Profession and served as chair of PBA's House of Delegates
and Young Lawyers Division.
Ms. Miller has received numerous honors throughout her
career. Most recently, she was named one of the five area "Women
Making History" by the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the National
Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and awarded a "Woman
of Distinction" honor by the Philadelphia Business Journal. An
alumnae trustee of the Dickinson School of Law, Ms. Miller was presented
with the Alumnae Medal of Honor from her alma mater, Mount Holyoke College.
Other honors include the President's Award from the Medical College
of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Bar Association Commission on Women
in the Profession's Ann X. Alpern Award, the Philadelphia Bar Association's
Sandra Day O'Connor Award and recognition as a Distinguished Daughter
of Pennsylvania by Governor Thomas Ridge.
Ms. Miller earned her undergraduate degree from Mount
Holyoke College, a master's in arts in political science from the Eagleton
Institute of Politics of Rutgers University, her law degree (JD) from
the Dickinson School of Law and master's in law (LLM with honors) from
Temple University's Beasley School of Law. She is a member of the board
of trustees of both Mount Holyoke and Dickinson School of Law.
Leslie Anne Miller is married to investment advisor Richard
B. Worley. They reside in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
