Thomas Jefferson University’s College of Health Professions -
What does the Jefferson name mean in Diagnostic Imaging?

Philadelphia, PA, August 2001 – Andrew Sanderson and Jennifer Plum have left the halls of Jefferson’s College of Health Professions. The two graduates have received their Bachelor’s degrees from the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and are ready to face exciting new careers.

Mr. Sanderson earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Diagnostic Imaging in one year by completing the Advanced Medical Sonography Placement Program. “What’s great about the Advanced Placement Program is that it allows you to take the fast track to earn a bachelor’s degree,” stated Mr. Sanderson. These 12-month programs are completed on a full-time basis and offer healthcare professionals the opportunity to focus upon an education in a specific specialty. Graduates of the Advanced Placement Program are eligible to take the examination of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Students passing this examination receive national certification.

“I chose Jefferson because of its incredible reputation and the excellent response I received from their Admissions Department. Now that I am graduating, I know I made the right decision. I have submitted my resume to six facilities and I received five job offers out of those six, all offering great salaries and benefits.” Mr. Sanderson stated. He has accepted a position at St. Joseph’s Hospital located in Elmira, NY.

Jennifer Plum has also had a great experience in her very short time as a Jefferson Alumnus. Originally from the West Coast, Ms. Plum had planned to go back to her roots and carry out her career in Portland, Oregon. “It’s amazing what the Jefferson name means in Diagnostic Imaging, especially in Oregon. I had no problem getting a job on the West Coast, but I decided to stay right here at Jefferson where I have a better opportunity for advanced technology,” stated Ms. Plum.

When Ms. Plum was choosing a college and saw that there were only seven schools that offered a BS degree in ultrasound, Jefferson was the school that caught her eye. “I first heard of Jefferson on the Today Show, when they were reporting a story about 3-D ultrasound. When I saw Jefferson as one of the seven schools that offered the program, I immediately applied.” Like Mr. Sanderson, Ms. Plum was also impressed with the rapid response from the Admissions Office and faculty members in the Diagnostic Imaging Department.

So what does the Jefferson name mean in Diagnostic Imaging? A great career, excellent salary and a terrific education!
