Pennsylvania State Nurses Association Appoints Sharon Rainer, MSN, CRNP, Chair of Government Relations Committee

Sharon R. Rainer, MSN, CRNP

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — November 19, 2009 — The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA) appointed Sharon R. Rainer, MSN, CRNP, as chair of the Government Relations Committee at their 2009 PSNA Summit, Annual Meeting and Business Dinner on October 23, 2009. Rainer, a former nurse-lobbyist in New Jersey, has worked in government affairs for over ten years. She is currently a faculty member and coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program in the Jefferson School of Nursing at Thomas Jefferson University.

In her role, Rainer will work with the PSNA Government Relations staff to advance legislation on behalf of registered nurses in the Commonwealth. "I look forward to working with the staff and legislators to move the agenda that nurses need and want to improve care for patients throughout Pennsylvania," says Rainer. "Nurses have a strong and effective voice and I will work hard to make it even stronger."

Rainer brings a wealth of nursing and lobbying experience to the position. She recently served as the lobbyist and deputy chief executive officer for the New Jersey State Nurses Association. She serves on national steering committees for the American Nurses Association Advocacy Institute (ANAI) and the Alliance for Nurses for a Healthy Environment (ANHE.)
