Vincent Njar to Serve on NIH Study Section

Philadelphia, Pa. -- Dr. Vincent C. O. Njar, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Jefferson School of Pharmacy, has been invited to serve as a member of the Drug Discovery and Molecular Pharmacology Study Section of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

"We are excited to have a Jefferson School of Pharmacy faculty member serve in an NIH Study Section," says Rebecca S. Finley, PharmD, MS. "This is a testament to Dr. Njar’s competence and achievement in pharmacy research and it is an honor for our School."

Dr. Njar has been named a charter member of the section, which means he is a permanent member for a four-year term starting in July 2010.

NIH Study Sections typically meet three times a year to review and make recommendations about grant applications and survey the status of research in their fields of science. The Drug Discovery and Molecular Pharmacology Study Section reviews applications concerned with discovery, design, identification, isolation, development and synthesis of novel agents that are potentially useful in cancer therapy.
