Dr. Schaaf hopes that building public awareness of sensory
dysfunction in autism and creating interventions to help
familes and children affected by it will ultimately help
the children affected by autism. Dr. Schaaf sees Representative
O'Brien as a partner in this effort and plans to participate
in his state level activities to promote autism awareness
and research. This meeting was made possible through
the efforts of OT student, Margaret Leary, who contacted
Representative O'Brien's office and facilitated the collaborative
meeting. Representative O'Brien also met with Department
of Occupational Therapy Chairman, Dr. Janice Burke, and Dean
of the Jefferson College of Health Professions, Dr. James
Erdmann. |
