Jefferson College of Health Professions
Clinical Instructor, Magnetic Resonance Imaging
I earned a BS in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences in 2005. I’m currently working on my Master’s and will graduate this fall.
Because of the structure of Jefferson’s two-year Bachelor’s program, I was able to use those two years efficiently. I took one year of x-ray and one of MRI. Jefferson is the only school with a one-year x-ray program.
Jefferson’s Radiologic Sciences program is proven to produce board-certified radiologic technicians, with a very good board pass rate.
Jefferson’s faculty are fantastic. They are available to students anytime, whether you want to make a formal appointment or call them just to chat. A faculty member took the time to talk to me about the Master’s program, what it entailed, and how it would best suit me.
Having a Jefferson Master’s in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences will make me a lot more desired in the field, since few technicians have advanced degrees. Completing the management track gives me an understanding of the supervisory role and the ability to be upwardly mobile in the field.
Jefferson gave me hands-on experience working with patients early in my training to be a healthcare professional. There is a strong emphasis on patient care — we began our clinical rotations in the second week of classes.
Within a week of graduation, I had a job lined up. I worked for a year as a staff MRI technologist at the Paoli MRI Center. When I decided to get my Master’s, the faculty at Jefferson helped me to complete the master’s program while working on campus. They gave me the opportunity to dabble in teaching. I always felt if you have the knowledge, why keep it to yourself?
