After graduating from Jefferson with a Master’s in Physical Therapy in 2003, I joined the U.S. Ski Team as team physical therapist.  I took advantage of the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, packed my bags and moved west to Park City, Utah.

As primary medical manager, I was responsible for keeping 40 freestyle skiers healthy and ready to compete internationally.  On any given day, I could find myself on the slopes, training alongside the team, or coordinating emergency healthcare during an international competition.

As a student at Jefferson, I completed a two-month clinical rotation in Ireland, at a rehabilitation hospital.  As a rotating physical therapist, I had a specialization in spinal and head injuries.  I was hired as a physical therapist for the U.S. Ski Team because they liked the fact that I had spent two months concentrating in that area.  The freestyle skiers that I treat had the spinal and head injuries in common.

I’ve stepped aside as the primary medical manager for the U.S. Ski Team and I now work as a rotating physical therapist for the Mercy Health System.  During my career with the ski team, I was limited to working with athletes.  Now that I’m back in the traditional physical therapy setting, I rehabilitate patients of all ages, getting them back to functional daily life.

My education at Jefferson— the knowledge and worth ethic — prepared me to take on a challenging career.  My professors set the bar high and it was up to me to pursue those goals once I graduated.  Jefferson helped me to become the best clinician I could be.
