Thomas Jefferson University requires that all matriculated students have adequate and acceptable health insurance and that they complete the enrollment/waiver process for each academic year. The enrollment/waiver process must be completed by September 1, 2011, or an insurance hold will be placed on the student’s Banner account. 

If students do not already have coverage through a spouse, parent, or employer, Jefferson offers a PPO health insurance plan through United Healthcare Student Resources. A summary of this student health plan and a detailed description of the plan’s benefits and exclusions are available online.

Rates (September 1, 2011– August 31, 2012)

The annual premium cost will be divided between two semesters to help you budget this expense, rather than having to pay the entire fee up-front. You will be charged one-half in the Fall semester and one-half in the Spring semester. Payment must be made by the noted deadline on your 
tuition bill.

To Enroll in the Health Insurance Plan

• Visit the First Student website 
  
  
• Select “Jefferson College of Graduate Studies” in the “Find Your School” box
  
  
• Select “Student/Dependent Enrollment” link on the left side of the page 
  
  
• Proceed as instructed to complete the enrollment process. The “Student ID#” is your “Campus Key” 
  
  
• Your insurance card will be sent to your local mailing address as listed in Banner Web. Please make sure this address is correct. 
  
  
• Within approximately a week after you complete your online enrollment, charges for your insurance will be posted on your student account in Banner Web. Please complete payment before the semester begins.

To Waive Health Insurance

• You may waive your health insurance if you are covered by a spouse, parent, or 
  employer under a comparable plan, once approved by the College.

• Proceed as instructed to complete the waiver request process. The “Student ID#” 
  is your “Campus Key”
  
  
• Please note that if your alternate coverage expires during the academic year, you have only 30 days to pick up new insurance under the College’s plan.
