Housing Options

Short Term Housing

The Department of Housing and Residence Life reserves space in our Martin Residence Hall for short-term housing accommodations available to visiting or current students, residents' family, and TJUH patients' family*. Eligible persons include patients, patient-family, visiting students, current students and employees of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Wills Eye Hospital or Methodist Hospital. 

Reservation Requirements: If you are interested in staying in the Martin Residence Hall in any of the below accommodations, please call (215) 955-6479 to make a reservation. Current students can call this number directly. All reservations must be made through Don Morrissey, the Assistant Director, Housing Operations, at (215) 955-6479, fax (215) 923-1981 email: ShortTermHousing@jefferson.edu or Don.Morrissey@jefferson.edu or at Suite 103, Orlowitz Building, 1000 Walnut Street.

A representative from your academic department must make all reservations on behalf of visiting students and post-doc fellows. The information you will need to provide in order to make a reservation is: guest(s) name, name and telephone # of person reserving, guest(s) affiliation with TJU (students provide department contact & phone number), choice of accommodations, arrival and departure dates. If subsidized IDC# (inter-department charge code) is required. The Martin/Alternative Coordinator will confirm all reservations and affiliations.

Upon Arrival

CHECK IN TIME IS ANYTIME AFTER 3:00 PM

Payment: Payment should be made upon arrival by personal check which must be a drawn from a U.S. bank account, EXACT cash, credit card (Visa or MasterCard only), EXACT traveler’s checks, or money order. (There is no change at desk). Payments may be accepted in advance if the sponsoring department provides an Interdepartmental transaction code (IDT)

Linens: Residents staying on campus longer than one week may request clean linens by leaving the white linens and white towels outside of the unit each Monday before 10 a.m. These are laundered by TJUH affiliates.  EARTH FRIENDLY: The Department of Housing and Residence Life chooses to limit laundering of heavy blankets and green bed covers to between residents. Our special-laundry service  provider is a bicycle powered laundry service that chooses to use Sun and Earth brand natural detergents that are hypo-allergenic, with no added perfumes, easy on the skin and are manufactured locally in King of Prussia.

ID Access: Residents staying on campus longer than one week should work with their sponsoring department to obtain a TJU Photo ID. A representative of the Department of Housing and Residence Life (1000 Walnut Street, Suite 103) can assist in programming each valid photo ID for Martin Residence entry.

I. Community-Style Rooms (Shared Bathrooms)

We have rates available for private rooms or rates for those willing to share with a roommate.

  • $95.00 nightly – Shared
  • $105.00 nightly – Private or Couple
  • $485.00 weekly – Shared
  • $605.00 weekly – Private or Couple
  • $1,555.00 monthly – Private or Couple

Discounted Rates * are available for TJU Student, Post Doc Fellows and Researchers who are staying for an extended time period.

  • $ 770.00 monthly renovated -Shared
  • $ 1015.00 monthly renovated - Private or Couple

*Discounted Student Rate This discounted monthly rate is only available for fully matriculated students and visitors who are researching or taking courses at Thomas Jefferson University Wills Eye, or Methodist.  The Department sponsor must confirm the student's affiliation to the Assistant Director of Housing Operations, who manages the short term housing program.

II. Rooms with Private Bath

First floor renovated rooms with private bathroom, free Cable TV, micro-fridge, desk/chair; wardrobe and night stand with a maximum occupancy of 2 persons. Rates $125.00 per night, $735.00 weekly and $1605 monthly ($53.50 daily).

A first floor kitchen lounge is also available for your convenience!

III. Apartment

Fully furnished renovated first floor apartment with living room, bedroom, bathroom and full kitchen, free cable TV.  Monthly rate is $2140.00 (less than $71 daily). Rate includes all utilities.
