In 1936, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital became one of the first institutions in the nation to offer an accredited program in radiologic technology. Since then, professionalism and quality have been the hallmark of a Jefferson education.

Jefferson took the lead again when it began offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Sciences programs more than 20 years ago. Today, students choose from 10 modalities to study.

In addition to the BS degree, JSHP offers an MS in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences and a BS to MS degree, as well as a PET/CT certificate, and part-time BS degrees for radiologic science professionals.

Our Mission

The Department of Radiologic Sciences provides excellence and leadership in all aspects of Radiologic Sciences by teaching, undertaking research and providing exemplary clinical practice skills in the broad field covered by this discipline.

The mission of the Department of Radiologic Sciences is to provide a comprehensive education preparing students for entry-level practice into the radiologic and imaging sciences as competent, caring professionals, cultivating professionalism and life-long learning. Through innovative pedagogy, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are developed and enhanced.
