Senthamil Selvan, PhD is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Oncology in Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Selvan’s research stems from a deep interest in cancer biology, cancer immunology and cancer immunotherapy. He was one of the first scientists to develop an autologous human model to identify and characterize tumor immune response and tumor-associated antigens recognized by pancreatic tumor-specific T cells. As a scientist deeply interested in taking his work to the clinic, he has worked with a number of clinicians and crafted a programmatic effort at a quality cancer vaccine development. His work extended to cancer cell biology, personalized vaccine using autologous tumor cells, immune monitoring of response to cancer vaccine, biomarkers of therapeutic response and cancer progression, and botanicals of immunomodulators. . He received his undergraduate (BSc) and master's degrees (MSc) in Zoology from Madras University, India, and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Life Sciences with Specialization in Cancer Biology and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunotoxicology.
