Bioscience Technologies
Jefferson’s Bioscience Technologies department is one of the most extensive multi-specialty departments in the country and has the only academic cytotechnology/cell science and medical laboratory science programs in the region.
In addition to bachelor and master’s degrees in biotechnology, cytotechnology and medical laboratory science, Jefferson offers part-time graduate certificate programs in clinical chemistry, hematology, immunohematology (bloodbanking), microbiology and molecular biology.
Jefferson provides unique opportunities. Bioscience technologies students can
- earn a BS in 1 or 2 years
- complete a Professional MS degree in 1 year – a good option for premed or gap year students
- earn combined BS and MS degrees in just 2 years
- gain practical experience at more than 50 clinical and research sites
- stretch their academic experience and job prospects through in-depth study of genomic pathology and molecular genetics in the Bioscience Honors Program
- take part in exchange programs, including Kitasato University in Japan
- explore practice-based research opportunities with outstanding faculty across the university and at affiliated labs
- collaborate with physicians, scientists and other health professionals in diagnostic, research and patient care settings.
