The Center for Applied Research on Aging and Health, formerly known as the Community and Homecare Research Division (CHORD) established in 1996 in the College of Health Professions of Thomas Jefferson University (TJU), now serves in a wider capacity as a focal point for research involving the development, testing and application of innovative community and home-based health and human services for individuals with chronic or disabling conditions, and specifically, the elderly and their caregivers.
The Center is committed to disseminating research findings to the scientific, clinical and consumer communities through it's sponsorship of scientific conferences and meetings, recently concentrating specifically on dementia management and physical frailty.
In collaboration with the Farber Institute for Neurosciences and the Department of Occupational Therapy, we are developing a multi-component and comprehensive set of clinical services for families and persons with dementia based on over 15 years of our research on dementia and caregiving. It will serve as a “living laboratory” for health professional service, training and research.
