Office of Animal Resources (OAR)
The use of animals in research is a highly regulated activity. Here at Thomas Jefferson University, the Office of Animal Resources and the the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) assist the researchers with the tasks necessary to be successful in initiating and conducting animal research.
Below is a list of activities handled by each of the two offices:
Office of Animal Resources
- Order Animals
- Create Cage Cards
- Transfer Animals between Protocols
- Provide Veterinary Consultation
- Maintain Financial Data related to billing and animal usage
- Assist in orientation and training

- Review all protocols for approval
- Process all animal use protocol paperwork
- Maintains training records on P.I.’s and Technicians related to each species
- Assist researchers with meeting regulatory requirements
